This type of therapy, combines three different types of approaches: Katathym Imaginative Psychotherapy (KIP), Ego-State therapy (EST) and the Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapy (NLP)
There are several interpretations of what we can call hypnosis, using integrative hypnotherapy techniques the therapist helps the client to reach a natural altered state of awareness. All of us have experienced this state for example think about a time when you were riding your bicycle and you did not remember parts of the journey. It can be defined as an experience of deep relaxation. This is a very natural process in which you are in control. It is not about being made to do things. The aim of this process is to empower you, to facilitate by combining these three approaches.
For example when using the technique of KIP: the therapist asks the client to imagine pictures. On these pictures the content of the client’s unconscious will be shown. Reflecting on it these symbolic pictures can help the client reach further, to undestand better than the source of current problems. This process of understanding is facilitated by the therapist. When using NLP techniques the client can explore how the language is influencing brain behaviour and how it enables them to recode the way the brain responds to stimuli and manifest new and improved behaviours. This way the clients becomes more aware and in charge oftheir own thoughts and feelings.
